ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the advent of digital surfacing technology in U.S. optical laboratories. It cites digital generator manufacturers including DAC International, Optotech, Gerber Coburn, Satisloh, and Scheineder Optical Machinery. An overview of the transition of optical laboratory into digital format is discussed. Larry Clarke, chief executive officer (CEO) and president of Satisloh North America states that he expects an increase in digital production of up to 21 percent by 2012 and 61 percent by 2015.
