Medicaid combats fraud with better screening and more targeted audits

The article discusses various fraud prevention initiatives currently implemented by Florida's Medicaid Program Integrity. According to the bureau chief, Mike Blackburn, they are currently searching for technology that will detect and deter fraud, abuse, and overpayments. On July 1, 2010, two pilot projects were implemented specifically targeting fraud in Miami-Dade County, namely, the Telephony project and an on-site care monitoring program for health-related services.
