ABSTRACT
This article looks at the political and economic challenges facing Germany, including the implementation of reunification strategies, as of July 1965. Some parts of the private sector of the economy have encountered difficult structural problems which will require more elaborate economic policies than in the past. Since 1958, a crisis has existed in the German coal-mining industry, and the present problems of competition between coal and oil cannot be solved by a laissez-faire policy. Another area badly in need of a policy is agriculture, which has been floundering for years in the very difficult process.
