ABSTRACT
This article reports on the opposition of Assured Guaranty Chief Executive Dominic Frederico to the new bond-insurer ratings methodology proposed by Standard & Poor's. According to the rating agency, there is a need for insurers raise additional capital or minimize risk to avoid a downgrade in the new methodology. Assured Guaranty posted more than 30% decline in its shares since the rating agency downgraded its rating in late October 2010. JPMorgan analysts Chris Holmes and Alex Roever explains the leverage ratio needed by Assured's mixed portfolio.
