ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the decision of the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) to add paratriathlon and paracanoe to the Rio de Janeiro 2016 Paralympic Games in Brazil and the achievement of quadriplegic Eric Ingram in Gracie jiu-jitsu. The IPC decision stirs enthusiasm among U.S. athletes including Augusto Perez and Rob Brown. The event is expected to draw many athletes. Meanwhile, Ingram from Norfolk, Virginia has become the first quadriplegic to achieve a blue belt in such martial art.
