The Medicare sets strict regulations for eligibility for manual wheelchairs and presents competitive bidding for wheelchair suppliers. Manufacturers reduce their product lines and eliminates some of their best chairs due to pressures from payers and suppliers. It is considered that with fewer products come greater economies of scale, smaller work force, and fewer fixtures.
