ABSTRACT
The article presents an analysis of communicatee responses to written business communications in the United States, and describes a study aimed to empirically prove the validity of good business writing principles. The article states that writing principles can evoke images, both good and negative, that are related to the writing, and by using the semantic differential to measure these effects, the study finds that if generally accepted principles of written communication are not followed, less favorable images result.
