The article discussed a study which reviewed the clinical characteristics of patients with ambiguous genitalia, diagnostic categories, and difficulties encountered in designation of sex of rearing. Genital phenotypes considered ambiguous are presented along with the classification of all disorders with ambiguous genitalia. Results are discussed based on categories, patients with 46,XY disorders of sexual development (DSD), and patients with 46,XX DSD. Focus is also given on the diagnosis of gonadal development disorders.
