ABSTRACT
The article discusses the position of Pope Benedict XVI on the campaign for universal health care. It mentions that the U.S. remains far from its goal of universal coverage. In joining the World Health Organization's (WHO) call for universal health coverage, the pope reportedly called health care a moral responsibility of government and an inalienable right, regardless of social and economic status. The author points out the defining role of subsidiarity in the path toward health care reform.
