The article reports that the virtual portion of the Secure Border Initiative (SBI) was cut by U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano and directed her department to focus on a new technology plan that will take flexible approach to deploying proven technologies on the country's southwest border. Included technologies are the multi-sensor, fixed-tower sites that Boeing has been developing along two relatively short border sections in Arizona and mobile surveillance systems that are also equipped with multiple-sensors.
