ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the issue of cultural competency in medical care. As stated, cultural competence is being respectful of differences between people and taking responsibility for thoughts, behavior and outcomes. According to her, understanding culture is necessary when providing care to patients. She opines that medical personnel should provide medical care to gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) patients with cancer regardless of their personal beliefs regarding sexual identity.
