The article discusses the new breed of non-traditional esoteric asset-backed securities (ABS) wherein U.S. investors have favored the changes. It notes that only few of the consumers loans that supports the traditional asset backed bonds are made by the lenders. Co-head of the Barclays Capital Cory Wishengrad states that investors, that had avoided the former sector, are attracted to the esoteric asset-backed issues because of their unfamiliarity with the products.
