ABSTRACT
The article presents a study regarding operative treatment for chest wall injuries. It mentions that fractures of consecutive ribs serve as independent markers of injury severity that heighten morbidity and mortality. It states that patients who underwent open reduction and internal fixation (ORIF) of flail chest injuries require less ventilator support to reduce growth infection and septicemia. Moreover, it says that oblique radiograph boosts sensitivity in detecting rib fractures.
