ABSTRACT
The article discusses the renovation of the Michael A. Bilandic Building located in Chicago Loop, Chicago, Illinois. It mentions the replacement of the chiller-heaters with equivalent capacity modular electric chillers and sets of duplex hydronic gas boilers which resulted to enhanced equipment reliability, easier maintenance, and a 15-percent savings in measured thermal-energy use. It also notes other improvements made in the mechanical systems of the building.
