ABB to Acquire Baldor Electric

The article reports that Zurich, Switzerland-based power and automation technologies provider ABB will acquire Fort Smith, Arkansas-based industrial motors manufacturer Baldor Electric Co., amounting to about 4.2 billion dollars. ABB offers to purchase all Baldor's outstanding shares at a price of 63.50 dollars per share and the deal is expected to close in the first quarter of 2011. ABB and Baldor expect the U.S. market for high-efficiency motors for a 10 to 15 percent increase in 2011.
