ABSTRACT
In this article the author examines measures taken in Rome, Italy to combat graffiti. It is noted that the major efforts to remove the vandalism have been undertaken by private citizens following the example of Rebecca Spitzmiller, an American attorney resident in Rome. The social conditions that promote graffiti are discussed.
