ABSTRACT
The article presents the executive summary of a report on the tourism industry for the first quarter of 2011, including five-year forecasts to 2014, in Brazil. It states that the country will host the football World Cup in 2014 and the Olympic Games in 2016 and both events demand first class tourism infrastructure. It points on the relatively strong economy and forecasts for Brazil's gross domestic product (GDP) growth to 7.2 percent in 2010 and 4.5 percent in 2011.
