ABSTRACT
This study was conducted during 2007-2008 to determine the genera/species of plant parasitic nematodes associated with wheat in cold regions of the Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad province of Iran. Plant parasitic nematode population densities were determined in 100 soil and root samples collected from 21 cereal growing districts of the province. Seven genera of plant-parasitic nematodes, including Pratylenchus, Helicotylenchus, Heterodera, Tylenchorhynchus, Xiphinema and Ditylenchus were found associated with cereal crops. The most important damaging plant-parasitic nematodes detected, were Pratylenchus (16.8%) and Helicotylenchus (14.8%). Their population densities per 50g of root were above damaging levels in some of the cereal fields surveyed.
