ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the development of the horizontal directional drilling (HDD), as a process to install pipelines and utilities. It states the new HDD eliminated open cutting and trenching across environmentally sensitive areas. Moreover, it notes that successful HDD projects require three basic factors including proper design, exact guidance, and straight hole.
