ABSTRACT
The article recalls the German occupation of the village of Fismette, on the north bank of the Vesle River in France. It describes the role played by the U.S. in fighting against such German occupation. The views and participation of Major General Robert Lee Bullard of the American II Corps in the tragedy at the village of Fismette are also highlighted. The tragedy of Fismette had ended on August 22, 1918.
