The starting point for interpretation of evidence for neutrino oscillations from atmospheric neutrino data is a knowledge of the neutrino beam. In this talk I briefly review the status of calculations of the atmospheric neutrino beam. A more extensive version is given in Ref. (1), on which this talk is based.
