ABSTRACT
The article discusses the Tea Party movement, an American political phenomenon which had a significant effect on the 2010 U.S. Congressional elections. It is characterized as a populist, libertarian, culturally conservative movement. Although primarily opposed to the perceived socialist tendencies of the U.S. Democratic Party, Tea Party enthusiasts also tended to be highly critical of the Republican Party establishment. Some information on major political figures associated with the movement is presented, including former Alaska governor Sarah Palin, pundit Glenn Beck, and Senator-elect Rand Paul.
