ABSTRACT
The article discusses the emergence of software solutions that address the task of carbon footprint reporting. In North America, over 400 companies are reporting to The Climate Registry. In 2009, over half of the U.S. Fortune 500 firms reported their emissions via the Carbon Disclosure Project. A Groom Energy Solutions report reveals that over 50 major software firms, including Climate Earth and Misys, offer carbon management software. The market is predicted to include 800 product providers by 2011.
