The article discusses the initiatives of U.S. software developers to gear up for the start of public safety's long-term evolution (LTE) era. The arrival of LTE will shift the focus of discussions from network capabilities to the broad portfolio of emerging software applications. The introduction of any new transport network or an influx of bandwidth will pave the way for discussion to the ideal application for LTE, according to the author. He sees end-users having multiple products that enable internet protocol talk groups or team communication channels.
