ABSTRACT
Amaranthus viridis Linn traditionally used as vermifuge, so our aim was to investigate anthelimintic activity of methanol extract of whole plant of A. viridis against Pheritima pasthuma. The six concentrations (10, 20, 40, 60, 80 and 100 mg/ml) of extract was studied in the bioassay, which involved the determination of time of paralysis and time of death of the worm. A. viridis showed significant dose dependent anthelmintic activity in both the parameters (paralysis and death). Piperazine citrate (10 mg/ml) was used as standard reference drug in the assay.
