ABSTRACT
The article highlights the views of Jim Moseley, managing director of General Mills in Great Britain and Ireland, and John Timpson, chairman of Timpsons, about the role of the human resource (HR) department. Moseley believes that half of HR's function is to guide the firm as it develops a culture and collect insights about the people that allow business growth. On the other hand, Timpson admits that they do not have an HR but a people support department who is focused on supporting people in the field.
