ABSTRACT
The article discusses the use of the Weikert Farm, located near Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, as a makeshift military hospital for wounded soldiers of the Union Army during the Battle of Gettysburg during the U.S. Civil War. The farm was owned by farmer Jacob Weikert. The author describes the efforts of Matilda Pierce, neighbor of the Weikerts, in providing water to U.S. soldiers. The author addresses concerns that Weikert did not provide water to dying Confederate Army soldiers.
