ABSTRACT
This article highlights the conversation of several American poets and authors concerning the Deepwater Horizon disaster including Nick Flynn, Brenda Hillman, Dorianne Laux, Fred Marchant, Laura Mullen and Patricia Smith. Mullen mentions the implication of the term spill which must be used appropriately, in which the disaster does not express an event similar to the definition of spill. It notes the connection of poetry to the event which needs a deeper understanding of the meaning of terms.
