ABSTRACT
The article reports that Axcan Holdings, a pharmaceuticals provider specializing on gastrointestinal disorders, has agreed to acquire Eurand NV, a specialty pharmaceutical company, for 583 million U.S. dollars. Directors of the latter have signed the transaction although its completion depends on an 80% voting threshold. Axcan has been given financial advice regarding the transaction by BofA Merrill Lynch, Barclays Capital, and RBC Capital Markets.
