ABSTRACT
The article reports on the first monoplane flown in Alabama. It highlights the importance of the first flight in the state in affecting the early history of aviation, and influence the formation of one of the largest aviation companies in the world. The monoplane was designed by William Lafayette Quick who was born in Shiloh, Tennessee. His monoplane is on public display at the Huntsville Space and Rocket Museum.
