ABSTRACT
The article offers information on the towns of Mullin's Flat and Pond Beat in Alabama. The latter's name was derived from a series of ponds Mack Pond, Rock Pond, Round Pond and others. A branch of Indian Creek serves as a separator between the two communities. Mullin's Flat has over 50 black families and five white families, most were tenant farmers. The two communities have churches that merged and formed the Center Grove United Church.
