ABSTRACT
The article presents the outcomes of a scientific research which aims to find out whether an offer of once-only flexible sigmoidoscopy screening in persons from 55 to 64 years of age reduces colorectal cancer incidence and mortality. Undertaken by professor W.S. Atkin and colleagues, it was seen that incidence and mortality were lower in the screening group than in no-offer group. It was also seen that once-only flexible sigmoidoscopy screening reduced colorectal cancer incidence and mortality.
