This article reports on developments related to the Institute of Certified Financial Planners. The Institute's Certified Financial Planners (CFP) Practitioners Retreat `96 is shaping up to be one of the best yet, with top speakers and hot topics filling out the educational program. This year's Retreat is scheduled for July 10-14 at the Grand Traverse Resort in Traverse City, Michigan. This year's Master Planner Conference deals with issues relating to the practice standards being developed by the CFP Board. A special Retreat highlight, the two fund panels--one made up of equity fund managers and the other of fixed-income fund managers--will be moderated by Don Philips, president of Morningstar. In order to provide further input to the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards regarding its first proposed practice standard, the Institute has created a member task force. Its purpose is to coordinate the information from institute local societies and members and prepare recommendations on behalf of the institute.
