Marketing moves into the spotlight - ASI takes the initiative

The article reports on a marketing campaign of the American Society for Indexing (ASI). It discusses three aims of the publicity approach, including marketing the indexing vocation, promoting individual indexers, and marketing the ASI brand. Various promotion techniques are explored including use of social networking web sites such as LinkedIn, Facebook, and Twitter, placing an advertisement in a program for the 2010 BookExpo conference, and placing advertisements in the periodical "The Indexer."
