Using the extrapolation of existing data, estimations of prompt-photon production at FAIR energies have been made. At y = yc.m. the rapidity density of prompt photons with p t > 1.5 GeV/ c per central Au + Au event at 25 A GeV is estimated as ∼10−4. With the planned beam intensity 109...

The K[sub S][sup 0]K[sub S][sup 0] final state in two-photon collisions is studied with the L3 detector at LEP using data collected at center-of-mass energies from 91 GeV to 202 GeV. The mass spectrum is dominated by the formation of the f[sub 2][sup ′](1525) tensor meson in the helicity...

A pulse-burst laser has been installed for Thomson scattering measurements on the Madison Symmetric Torus reversed-field pinch. The laser design is a master-oscillator power-amplifier. Low energy cross sections from the collision of nucleons with light mass nuclei show sharp as well as broad resonances upon a smooth, energy dependent background. Those resonances may correlate to states in the discrete spectrum of the target. To interpret scattering data of that type requires a...

Electronic quenching of IF B 3Π(0+) was studied in a time resolved laser fluorescence experiment. IF (B) deactivation rate constants were determined as a function of vibrational quantum number for the following collision partners: He, Ne, Ar, Kr, Xe, N2, F2, I2, O2, and H2O. Quenching by the...
