ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the enforcement of unclaimed property laws to generate revenue for the U.S. state budget. It explains that unclaimed property is an area which is considered continually changing. It points out that compliance of the companies suggests that accounts meeting specific criteria will reverse to the state. However, it stresses that compliance with the new regulations does not mean that client base is being protected. It presents some common warning to be considered by the financial planners including client's life status, account activity, address accuracy, and overall data quality.
