ABSTRACT
The purpose of this qualitative study was to understand how six virtual school administrators describe the roles of mentors in their virtual schools and how those mentors help to develop and support quality online teachers. Virtual schools participating in the research included two in the Southeast, one in the South, one in the Northeast, one in the West, and one in the Midwest. Each of the virtual school administrators participated in an hour-long, semi-structured phone interview, conducted by a research-intensive university in the southeastern United States. Implications for research in the area of teacher mentoring and induction programs in virtual schools and suggestions for further research were provided.
