Co-operation and innovation cut life-cycle costs

This article discusses the advantages of co-operation between infrastructure managers and their contractors in the Swiss rail network. It highlights the move of infrastructure managers to outsource maintenance and renewal work to contractors. It recognizes the cooperation for improving the efficiency of the work. The effectiveness of the cooperation to reduce costs and optimize life-cycle costs is also noted.
