ABSTRACT
The article discusses the importance of the Arabs to the economy of Israel and its impact on its membership to the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). It relates that the Arabs are 20% of the population and account for only 8% of the gross domestic product. Also discussed is the economic project of Shimon Peres, President of Israel, in which 800 million shekels (NIS) will be invested in selected Arab localities, including Nazareth, Sakhnin, Arabe, and Shfar Am'r.
