FOR-PROFIT SCHOOLS: Large Schools and Schools that Specialize in Healthcare Are More Likely to Rely Heavily on Federal Student Aid

The article presents a report from the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) on the for-profit schools' compliance with the 90/10 rule. The GAO investigated the percentage of schools that was in compliance with the rule and their characteristics that were associated with the likelihood of having a high 90/10 rate. The report indicated that almost 100% of the schools complied with the rule between 2003 and 2008 and those that did not grant academic degrees had high rates in 2008.
