ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the construction of Universal Design (UD) home safe rooms. It states that home safe rooms are important for old people or people with disabilities who live in the Sunbelt states which are prone to tornadoes and hurricanes. Furthermore, safe rooms are described as separate buildings within the house, in which building parts such as the foundation, walls and ceiling are separated from the main structure so that they would remain intact even if the main house is destroyed.
