ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the petition submitted by the Corn Refiners Association (CRA) Inc. to U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in September 2010 which would allow food and beverages manufacturers to use corn sugar as a substitute ingredient for corn syrup. CRA president Audrae Erickson describes corn sugar as a safe and inexpensive ingredient that is based on a study. However, according to an independent consumer study, the labeling of the ingredient confuses American consumers.
