ABSTRACT
The article reports on the efforts by the authorities and the media in Victoria, Texas to stop illegal immigration from Mexico to the U.S. It cites the case of the 19 illegal immigrants who died in Victoria while being transported via a tractor-trailer vehicle from Mexico to Houston, Texas on May 14, 2003. It presents the moves by the Texas state newspaper "Victoria Advocate" to study the lessons learned from the tragedy.
