ABSTRACT
The article discusses the report of the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) concerning the regulation of the sale of dogs and cats for research. It focuses on the Random source Class B dealers who obtain animals for research from individual pounds and dealers. An overview of the objectives of GAO through the Department of Agriculture is also discussed including the determination of the number of random source Class B dealers, the extent of the inspections and the costs of the oversight.
