Thomas Gentille

December 2010
Metalsmith;2010, Vol. 30 Issue 5, p28
The article features Thomas Gentille, the first American to be awarded with the Klassiker der Moderne during the 47th annual Schmuck jewelry exhibition in Munich, Germany. He was trained as a metalsmith and directed the jewelry program at the 92nd Street Y arts center in New York. He studied painting and sculpture at the Cleveland Institute of Art and in his senior year focused on jewelry design with John Paul Miller. His obsessiveness with his jewelry's afterlife reflects his commitment to perfectionism and the extent to which it frames his entire life.
