ABSTRACT
The article reports on the plan of the U.S. Transportation Security Administration (TSA) to award initial contracts in July 2011 for the Checked Baggage Inspection Systems (CBIS) program, two months later than previously planned. The CBIS program is the new-generation of Explosives Detection Systems (EDS) to screen checked bags at airports in the country. The EDS systems will be divided by the TSA into three categories, High-Speed, Medium-Speed and Reduced-Size.
