ABSTRACT
The article discusses Palestinian refugees' settlement or implantation (al-tawteen) in Lebanon. It focuses on the discourses of the Lebanese political elite and analyzes settlement within the broader framework of relations with Syria and Israel. The author examines the Taëf Agreement, the Oslo Declaration of Principals (DOP), and the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA). He comments on a housing project in the Lebanese village of Qray'a and on Lebanese Christians. Lebanese politicians discussed include President Émile Lahoud, Defense Minister Fares Boueiz, and President of Parliament Nabih Berri.
