State-Specific Trends in Fruit and Vegetable Consumption Among Adults -- United States, 2000-2009

The article explores different trends in fruit and vegetable consumption among adults in the U.S. in 2009. Based on data from the Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS), the number of adults who met the target for fruit consumption dropped slightly. A chart is presented which shows the percentage of adults in the country 18-year-old and above who consumed fruit and vegetables more than once a day. The author emphasizes the need to enhance access, availability and affordability of fruits and vegetables.
