ABSTRACT
The article provides updated recommendations from the U.S. Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) for prevention of invasive pneumococcal polysaccharide vaccine among all adults aged 65 years old or older and those adults aged 19-64 years old with underlying medical conditions that put them at greater risk for serious pneumococcal infection. It cites the changes made from the 1997 ACIP recommendations including indications of the vaccination. ACIP recommended the revaccination of patient groups at risk for invasive pneumococcal disease.
