ABSTRACT
This article reports on the intention of Wal-Mart Stores to acquire South African management company Massmart Holdings in 2010. The retail company offers 4.2 billion U.S. dollars in cash for the wholesale and retail portfolio of Massmart. Rothschild is acting as the financial advisor of Wal-Mart in the transaction. Doug McMillan, chief executive officer (CEO) of Wall-Mart International, said the company will continue to improve returns in the international business.
